Warrant Officer Class One (WO1) William Mensah of the Ghana Armed Forces who gained notoriety after being captured on CCTV physically assaulting a pharmacy attendant and a female customer has been granted bail by the court.
The incident stemmed from a confrontation over a GH¢65 refund at the e-Pride Pharmacy, located near Burma Camp.
The viral CCTV footage showed WO1 William Mensah engaging in a physical altercation at the pharmacy.
The victims of the assault were a pharmacy attendant and a female customer who intervened in the dispute.
The confrontation was reportedly triggered by a disagreement over a refund of GH¢65.
The widely circulated video led to massive public condemnation and calls for the soldier to be brought to justice for his actions.
Here’s how the military police arrested Williams Mensah
The Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) has swiftly acted following the public outrage over a viral video showing military officer, physically assaulting a pharmacy shop attendant and a female customer over a GHS 65 refund dispute.
In a new secretly recorded video circulating online, three uniformed military police officers are seen arriving at the residence of the suspect, identified as Williams Mensah, to effect his arrest.
The officers escorted Mensah out of his apartment inside the military barracks.
However, upon reaching their vehicle, Mensah appeared to resist entering and this prompted a brief scuffle.
